On July 17, 2009, a highly prolific but little known Toronto artist Michael O’Regan died.
His work is eclectic, spanning more than forty years and included, amongst other disciplines:
performance, design, writing, poetry, songwriting, sculpture, and drawing.
He was the recipient of the first Chalmers Award as a young member of the Stratford Shakespeare
Festival and undertook numerous artistic commissions. These included: designing and building props
and illusions for the world-renowned magician, Doug Henning; restoration and interior design of the
mansion formerly owned by Gloria Swanson; numerous parade floats; props and dressing for Stratford
Festival and design of Ontario Place Children’s Park; announcer for CBC radio in Windsor and appeared
in radio and television productions throughout Canada.
