Biography

On July 17, 2009, a highly prolific but little known Toronto artist Michael O’Regan died.   His work is eclectic, spanning more than forty years and included, amongst other disciplines: performance, design, writing, poetry, songwriting, sculpture, and drawing.

He was the recipient of the first Chalmers Award as a young member of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and undertook numerous artistic commissions.  These included: designing and building props and illusions for the world-renowned magician, Doug Henning; restoration and interior design of the mansion formerly owned by Gloria Swanson; numerous parade floats; props and dressing for Stratford Festival and design of Ontario Place Children’s Park; announcer for CBC radio in Windsor and appeared in radio and television productions throughout Canada.

the MOR project:

The legacy of his work and the contribution Michael made to his community will be honoured through the formation of a foundation whose sole purpose is to offer financial assistance to artists. This will be achieved by the sale of his work, through interested galleries, agencies, supporters of the arts and “the MOR project” website.
